  The rates below apply to *Non-Grandfathered policies:

  * The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) allows certain health plans established prior to March 23, 2010 — that are not changing their benefits beyond specified parameters and percentages — to be exempt from certain provisions of health care reform. These plans and health insurance coverage are referred to as “grandfathered” plans. Changes that would cause the loss of Grandfathered status are: a significant cut or reduction in benefits; a raise coinsurance charges; a significant raise in copayment charges; a significant raise in deductibles; significantly lower employer contributions; adding or reducing an annual limit on what the insurer will pay for covered services; or a change insurance companies or insurance contracts. When these changes are made by the group plan or an insurer, as permitted by ACA, it would result in the loss of grandfather status.

  If a fully-insured group plan was in effect on March 23, 2010 and did not make any material changes, MVP will designate the plan as grandfathered upon the group’s next renewal. It is the group’s responsibility to contact MVP if any changes are made to the plan that will impact grandfather status (for example, lower employer contributions).

Introducing MVP Catamount Choice

Offered in partnership with the state of Vermont, MVP’s Catamount Choice offers affordable coverage for individuals and their families. Coverage includes preventive and urgent care, primary care and hospital visits, and preventive dental for kids and adolescents. Catamount Health will be available to all Vermonters, regardless of income. Furthermore, many will qualify for discounted rates based on their income and family size.
